About

Tamara grew up in Gippsland in Victoria, Australia. Living in an area steeped in a rich pioneering history, provided the perfect stomping ground for an inquisitive mind. With a camera in hand, Tamara would often set off on weekends searching for worn down, abandoned old buildings and houses.

Not satisfied with just looking from the outside, she often gained entry inside to find out more about the people who resided there in the past. Always keeping a keen eye out for any other historical 'evidence', such as old newspapers, photographs and sometimes personal items such as clothing, china and other trinkets.

These images eventually formed the basis of her first solo exhibition What remains in 2016 at the Briagolong Art Gallery.

Her latest body of work Deep Inside the Toybox is an exploration of the artist projecting herself on to old dolls and toys. Children do it all the time - providing voices and projecting personalities on to each of their toys. This project features discarded dolls being brought back to life, which are then placed in quirky and sometimes creepy environments through composite photography techniques.
